Rita Sherr is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and The Columbia University School of Social Work. She is a psychotherapist and Ericksonian hypnotherapist in private practice with over 35 years of experience. She studied with Dr. Milton H. Erickson. She has been teaching courses, conducting workshops, and supervising students in hypnotherapy for many years. She has led workshops in hypnosis for businesses including American Express, Shearson Lehman Brothers, and John Wiley and Sons.

She is the founding Director of Education for NYSEPH, a Board member, and a Senior Faculty member. She is a Supervisor at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies.

She is Certified by the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH). She is an Approved Clinical Consultant for the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH).

She is trained in Level I and Level II of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
