"Habits and Hypnotherapy"

Course Description: A SYMPTOM is a coping mechanism with a negative outcome. A HABIT is a behavior, positive or negative, imprinted by repetition. Often the SYMPTOMS are no longer needed. They continue as a HABIT. So the repetitions of SYMPTOMS, which are negative coping behaviors are then maintained as HABITS. Although HABITS are difficult to change consciously, they respond very quickly to change when utilizing HYPNOSIS, when reframing and utilizing an appropriate trance experience.The workshop will be both didactic and experiential, in the utilization of HYPNOSIS AND HYPNOTHERAPY.

Objectives: Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to: Describe at least 3 habits that would benefit from using hypnosis to modify behavior [i.e. Weight issues, Trichotillomania and Smoking Cessation.] Specify the various hypnotherapeutic techniques used with the habits above.. State how the use of cognitive hypnosis is of major consideration when treating habit disorders.

From East: Take Northern State Parkway WB to Francis Lewis Blvd. SB. At first light, make a right (McLaughlin Ave.). Drive about 6 blocks and make a left on Palermo St. Take winding street bearing right until the end. Hospital is on left. Go into parking lot and park (free, ample parking)

From West: Take Grand Central Parkway EB to 188th St. Drive straight on road on right side of temple (McLaughlin Ave.) Drive 4 blocks to Palermo St. make right turn and follow above directions.

From South: Take Cross Island Parkway NB to Grand Central Parkway WB and follow above.

From North: Take Cross Island Parkway SB to Grand Central Parkway WB and follow above.

ASCH CONSULTATION: INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP
SUPERVISION IN ERICKSONIAN HYPNOSIS

Brigitte E. Lifschitz, LCSW is an Approved ASCH Consultant in Clinical Hypnosis. She is available for the 20 hours required by ASCH to receive Certification.

For those of you who need to have 20 hours of Ericksonian hypnosis supervision in order to receive certification from ASCH, see the requirements below.

Applicants must:

Hold at least a masters degree in a health care discipline considered appropriate by the Society and have licensure/certification in the state/province which they practice.

Membership in a professional society consistent with degree.

Licensure or Certification by the state of province in whichthey practice.

Minimum of 40 hours of ASCH approved workshop training (20 hours each of beginning and intermediate workshops).

Minimum of 20 hours of individualized training/consultation with an ASCH Approved Consultant.

Minimum of two years of independent practice utilizing clinical hypnosis.

(It doesn't matter if you have just graduated as long asyou have the 20 hours of supervision within the 2 years of practice).
