New York Society of Clinical Hypnosis (NYSCH) Presentation from 7 to 9 pm

Comparing Hypnosis and Meditation
by Susan Lee Bady, LCSW,BCD

Although both hypnosis and meditation are beginning to achieve mainstream acceptance, many practitioners of each modality are unaware of the similarities between the two and the way knowledge of one can enhance the practice of the other.

In this workshop the presenter will discuss the similarities, as well as pertinent differences between them. She will present some of the philosophy underlying the practice of meditation that can be blended into the practice of hypnotherapy. She will illustrate her points in two ways. First, by discussing specific techniques important to each modality i.e. ego strengthening in hypnosis and loving kindness/skillful intentions in meditation, to again show how the two can blend together. And second by hypnotic inductions of ego strengthening and beginning instruction of meditation.

Goals:
  • Students will understand the similarities and differences between hypnosis and meditation
  • Students will understand the principles of ego strengthening in hypnosis.
  • Students will understand the principles of loving kindness and skillful intentions in meditation.
  • Students will learn the basics of meditation.
